Best Caribbean Destinations for a Corporate Retreat (2026 Guide)

Which Caribbean island suits your corporate retreat? Compare Nassau, Punta Cana, Jamaica and Barbados on meeting space, flight access, budget tiers, hurricane timing and State Department advisory levels.

The best Caribbean destination for a corporate retreat depends on group size, budget and travel window more than on the island's postcard appeal. Nassau has the largest meeting figures in the sources we reviewed, and Punta Cana the shortest published flight times from major US cities. Here is how the main options compare, using the sources we could verify.

A note on the evidence. Most public material on Caribbean retreats is planner or vendor marketing, and we found no independent study ranking islands against each other. The comparisons below are built from named sources, linked inline, and should be treated as starting points for sourcing, not rankings.

Why consider the Caribbean for a corporate retreat at all?

Because the region is busy, recovered and getting busier. The Caribbean received about 35 million international stay-over arrivals in 2025, up 2.5% on 2024 and above 2019 levels, according to the Caribbean Tourism Organization. The CTO projects 3-4% growth in 2026, with the US the largest source market at about 17 million visitors, per the same release as reposted by the Caribbean Tourism Authority.

Which Caribbean destination has the most meeting space?

Of the destinations we found figures for, Nassau, Bahamas, has the largest. Cvent's Top 25 Meeting Destinations 2026 lists Nassau with 44 hotels and 10,800 rooms, plus two major convention centers totaling 300,000 sq ft, with a 50,000 sq ft largest meeting room. Cvent ranks Nassau #3 in its Latin America and Caribbean list, behind Cancun/Riviera Maya at #1 (Cvent files that one under Mexico, so we treat it separately; see our Riviera Maya venue comparison).

Other islands have large venues too, though the figures come from lighter sources. A Travel and Tour World trade press release describes Jamaica's Montego Bay Convention Centre as a 120,000 sq ft venue and the Barbados Convention Centre as 60,000 sq ft. We have not cross-checked those against the venues' own sites, so confirm square footage directly.

Which Caribbean island is easiest to reach for US teams?

On published flight times, Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. TeamOut, a third-party planner, reports direct flights into Punta Cana (PUJ) from New York, Miami and Atlanta in 3-4 hours, and says Barceló Bávaro and Club Med Miches can handle events of 100+ people.

On the resort side, Skift Meetings notes that W Punta Cana offers 14,000 sq ft of meeting space, including a 5,380 sq ft ballroom and six breakout rooms. In Jamaica, Skift says Princess Grand Jamaica and Princess Senses The Mangrove share a convention center with a 1,185-guest ballroom.

What does a Caribbean corporate retreat cost per person?

The only per-person figures we found come from a vendor. Offsite, a retreat-planning platform, places all-inclusive Caribbean resorts in Punta Cana and Jamaica in a $2,500-$4,000 per-person budget tier, and says Jamaica hosts 200+ incentive groups annually at about $4,000 per person.

Treat these as vendor-published numbers, not benchmarks. We found no independent pricing data by island, so real quotes will vary with season, group size, flights and program length.

When is the wrong time to book a Caribbean retreat?

Mid-August through mid-October. The official Atlantic hurricane season runs June 1 to November 30, and the highest-risk window is usually mid-August through mid-October, peaking around September 10, per NOAA as cited by Haute Retreats.

Risk does not end on October 1. Afar reports that NOAA counted 13 named storms and 9 hurricanes in 2025, and the worst landed in late October and devastated Jamaica. For 2026, NOAA predicted a below-normal season of 8-14 named storms. Whatever the forecast, build cancellation and relocation terms into every contract.

Are Caribbean destinations safe for corporate travel?

Advisory levels differ by island, and the sources we found do not fully agree. A Travel80 summary of State Department advisories from an October 2026 check reported Barbados at Level 1, and Jamaica, the Bahamas and the Dominican Republic at Level 2. Treat that as one snapshot, not a definitive reading.

Jamaica needs the closest look. Yahoo News reported that its advisory was lowered to Level 2 after Hurricane Melissa, but certain areas remain Level 4 "do not travel" and crime and healthcare concerns persist. We could not confirm which Montego Bay resorts and venues have fully reopened after the storm, so verify both the current advisory at travel.state.gov and the property's status directly before signing.

So which destination should you pick?

A practical shortcut, based only on the evidence above:

  • Large group needing real convention space: Nassau, for its 300,000 sq ft of convention capacity and 10,800 rooms.
  • Short travel day from the US East Coast and Southeast: Punta Cana, with 3-4 hour direct flights from New York, Miami and Atlanta.
  • Incentive-style all-inclusive trip: Punta Cana or Jamaica, which Offsite places in a $2,500-$4,000 per-person tier, with a close look at Jamaica's advisory and recovery status.
  • Lower-advisory option to investigate: Barbados was reported at Level 1 in one October 2026 check (Travel80), and its convention centre is described as 60,000 sq ft in a trade press release. Neither figure is confirmed, so verify both before relying on them.

We did not verify meeting capacity, flight times or costs for the US Virgin Islands, Turks and Caicos, Aruba, Cayman or St. Lucia, so we have left them out rather than guess.
